![]() What happens when you or a loved one has just learned they have breast cancer? Get angry? Cry? Fight? Perhaps all of these things? As the owner of By the Bay Botanicals, I learned my mother Carol was diagnosed with breast cancer in April. Both of our minds were spinning with questions of why, how, what are we going to do. One thing you do learn right away is you are not alone. So many people including nurses, doctors, survivors and friends and family are willing and able to help support the patient's journey towards a cure. Since April my mother had a very long journey towards curing cancer by having two lumpectomies, chemotherapy treatments, and a double mastectomy. Today, she is cured, but swears she couldn't have been able to do it without the help and support of family and friends. It is this idea, to want to help others who are taking the same journey of beating breast cancer, which inspired the creation of a breast cancer awareness candle. This candle is meant to be a beacon or light shining hope and love for those battling cancer. Additionally, $1.00 from the sale of each candle will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. To get your candle now or learn more, click on the photo. This candle can only be bought through By the Bay Botanicals website and future art and craft festivals where By the Bay Botanicals products will be sold. ~ Michelle Sholund, owner of By the Bay Botanicals (www.bythebaybotanicals.com)
