Those from Maryland or even visit it, are nuts about the Chesapeake Bay. It really is a treasure, just like the slogan on the Maryland Bay Plates. Our business name, By the Bay Botanicals, is actually named after the Chesapeake Bay, because who doesn't like living near The Bay?!
The Chesapeake Bay is truly a remarkable body of water. It is the home to the blue crab and many migratory birds like the bald eagle and blue heron, many make their living off the bay whether it is fishing and crabbing, it is a big part of Maryland's travel and tourism industry and in order for it to be healthy and thriving for generations to come we all need to help save the bay. One non profit, The Chesapeake Bay Trust is doing just that. It's primary focus is on education both in and out of schools and conservation efforts such as planting bay grass to help improve natural Bay habitat all the while showing citizens everything we do affects the bay. There is a lot of great information, tips and more available information on their website, www.cbtrust.org. Check it out!
Before you do, though By the Bay Botanicals is wanting to help The Chesapeake Bay Trust by raising money to help in their efforts. For the month of September whenever one of our customers buy either a Chesapeake Bay Mist or Annapolis Sail Away candle, which are a $1.00 off during September, and additional $1.00 will be donated to the trust. For more information, please visit the Candle of the Month page of our website.
